I’ve been thinking about writing a blog for a long time. I seem to have a bit of a block around social media so I’m going to try a blog instead. I’m way too silent on social media, it gives me stage fright and I hate to be governed by the algorithm. A blog seems more intimate somehow. Less open to scrutiny from anyone and everyone and more about finding the right people, who might like what I create.

I’m not sure I have anything to say; this feels like an experiment. I know that I want to talk about my business, Vintage and Patch, and how passionate I am about it and about designing and making clothes in general. About how much I love creating lovely pieces that people enjoy wearing. How I love finding vintage fabrics and transforming them into gorgeous garments.
I love trading at markets, especially the Frome Independent. I love to be able to meet my customers and enable them to try pieces on. I love seeing them in my garments. I love the energy and the excitement of the day and chatting with fellow traders. I get such a buzz from it all. In future episodes, I’d like to focus on a few things in more detail. My brand feels so anonymous and a bit characterless at the moment, and I’d like to bring some personality to it.
I’ll leave it there for today and write again when something comes up.
For the record I don’t think your brand is anonymous or characterless…the style is distinctive in the style and fabrics you choose to use, and easy to spot with the simple range or styles you make. I think you’ve nailed it.
